    NOTES ABOUT CLASSES (Study this page before registration)

Healthcare Provider is for Physicians & Dentists and their staff.  Individuals who work in the medical, dental and rescue helping careers should take this professional level class.  There are 26 skills and a written exam to complete for the two year American Heart Association card which now includes certification in AED, team rescue techniques and Bag- Valve- Mask application on all three age groups. Key: HCP = Full Healthcare Provider Course/ HCP-R = Healthcare Provider Renewal Course (Participants should hold a current HCP card)

Heartsaver CPR is for educators, daycare workers, personal trainers, private sitters, massage therapists and medical assistants in non-critical care rolls.  Please note that techniques for HCP & HS differ and may cause confusion on code teams or in dental offices. Key: HS = Heartsaver CPR/ HS-A = Adult only training/ HS-P = Child & Infant training only/ HS-A&P = Adult, Child & Infant training  HS-A/P/AED-R = Renewal courses are available at a reduced price.

Heartsaver AED is the Automated External Defibrillator.  This fantastic machine is designed to stop the quivering or extremely fast pulseless heart which would help to restore normality to circulation, if the heart resumes a pulse generating rhythm. Adult and Pediatrics AED courses techniques are now offered for training heartsavers too.  The training is offered in three formats: part of the HCP course, featured in the HS-AED = Adult, Pediatrics or Adult and Pediatrics heartsaver CPR and AED certification.  Additional courses have been developed by the American Heart Association to accommodate the new technology. The HCP and HS-AED courses include Child AED techniques.

Heartsaver First Aid is basic exposure to an excellent variety of sever illnesses and injuries which threaten to debilitate or even take the life of a neighbor or client or coworker. General first aid principles, medical emergencies, injury emergency and environmental emergency situation sets are combined with site employer emergency reporting policies to make the course extremely practical.  Legal aspects and hands-on skills combine with video and interactive activities as well as short sectional written exams for the two year national certification.  Heartsaver First Aid morning course combines nicely with afternoon CPR for excellent rescue training continuity.  Key: FA = Heartsaver First Aid with or without Pediatric Supplement/ FA/CPR = Heartsaver First Aid and CPR training.  Note also that the AHA has just published a new pediatric text supplement for this course.

CPR for Family and Friends is community CPR for interested citizens who desire practical knowledge and training in a relaxed environment with no testing or stress.  The course is tailored to fit the specific client need for infant, child or and adult rescue training for emergency situation recognition, appropriate responder action, airway assessment and management, rescue breathing, CPR and foreign body airway obstruction relief.  Ample question and answer time is allocated with an excellent instructional video and practical hand-on rescue techniques for an enjoyable two to four hour course.  This is not an official certification course. Except for instructor courses, all basic cardiac life support courses can be presented in less than one day and some in just a few hours.  The instructor education process requires course completion excellence prerequisites, two days of training and course work and one day of practice teaching by the instructor candidate.

Note that while AED classes had been for adult victims only, the Healthcare Provider and Heartsaver courses now include or offer child AED application, too.  Techniques for pediatric AED application are taught in the HCP  and HS-AED courses now.
